What should I do to prepare for our first session?

Please contact us on the form below to find a time to get to know each other a bit over approximately 10 minutes on the phone and find some times that might work to schedule.

After this phone conversation, we will enroll you in our communication “texting” app via Spruce, provide you with our consent documents electronically and let you know some information that may be required to schedule your appointment including your ID and payment information. Come enjoy an espresso in our waiting room for a few minutes before your appointment. Please bring any past records or labwork you think may be helpful or were requested over the phone.

What is your approach to privacy?

We take privacy very seriously, as trust is crucial for maintaining a therapeutic relationship. As examples of such, we use only HIPAA compliant software for patient communication and require all communication regarding medical or mental health needs to be through such. We do not include “mental health” or “psychiatry” in billing on your credit card statement to support your privacy. We do not confirm whether an individual is or is not in our care without explicit permission in order to do so.

For individuals seeking services without anyone else being made aware, we recommend individuals pay privately for services as insurance companies often require clinical information for treatment.

For children, we require explicit permission from parents/guardians in order to provide care. Teennagers who are able to express their own desires regarding privacy in their treatment can limit some information disclosed to the parents, which is crucial for fostering a relationship of trust with our staff. We will work to ensure good communication within a given family on all mental health needs, as this is often a goal of treatment.

Please note, however, that if a minor is at a severe risk of suicide, parents/guardians must be notified. If anyone is at a severe risk of homicide this information must be shared in the legal and ethical obligation for safety.

When is your soonest appointment for a new patient intake?

Although the “soonest” appointment is fleeting, as of February 2020 most new patients are able to be scheduled in approximately two weeks. For existing patients, same day appointments are often available dependent on urgency.

Where do I find the consent forms to complete before my first appointment?
